Wout Weghorst leaves Ajax

Wout Weghorst is leaving Ajax. The 33-year-old striker will continue his career at FC Twente. The Netherlands international had been playing in Amsterdam since the summer of 2024 and his contract has now expired.

Weghorst joined Ajax in August 2024 from English side Burnley FC. In his first season under Francesco Farioli, the forward made 24 Eredivisie appearances, featured five times in the UEFA Europa League and played two KNVB Cup matches. He scored ten league goals in his debut campaign, finishing as Ajax's top scorer that season. He also found the net once in Europe, away to Qarabağ FK.

Last season, he made 34 appearances: 27 in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie, five in the UEFA Champions League and two in the European play-offs. He scored nine goals.

After two seasons, Weghorst leaves Ajax having made 65 official appearances for the first team, scoring 20 goals and providing six assists.

Ajacieden support children at Emma Children’s Hospital; Weghorst visits superfan

It is a well-established tradition on the Ajax calendar: the annual visit to the Emma Children’s Hospital. On Monday, that tradition continued as players from Ajax 1 and the Ajax Women brought a special afternoon to young patients. For Isabella Voorbij, it was a very special day.
