The Amsterdam team started the game well at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. A cross from the right side from Devyne Rensch landed next to Davy Klaassen. The midfielder then found Tadic in turn and he brought Ajax to 1-0 up after six minutes. It was goal number 99 for the Serbian in the Ajax 1st team. Soon after, the visitors were very close to a quick reply. Joshua Kitolano's effort, via the leg of an Ajax player, fell just wide of Gero Rulli's goal.
The Argentine goalkeeper saw another danger looming in front of his goal a few minutes later. This time it was the Spartan striker Tobias Lauritsen who tried. It resulted in a save from Rulli. The Amsterdam team remained calm and allowed the ball to pass quickly from foot to foot.
After a header by Mohammed Kudus hit the crossbar, it was a matter of waiting for Ajax's second goal. It came: a lovely lob from Tadic put Taylor in position. The midfielder's shot hit the far corner: 2-0. Just before half-time, Bergwijn aimed just wide after a good acceleration, leaving the Amsterdam players into the break with a comfortable lead.
Dusan's 100th
The Amsterdam teams' attacking drive took shape from the penalty spot after 60 minutes of play. After a foul on Bergwijn and input from VAR, Tadic was allowed to touch down for his 100th goal for the Ajax first team. The Serbian did not miss and joined an illustrious list of Ajax players.
The final goal came from Kudus. The Ajax attacking midfielder curled a free kick from just outside the sixteen wonderfully into the goal, setting the final score at 4-0.
