Both men are most looking forward to the match against Liverpool. "It remains very special to play there," Schreuder acknowledges. "But I also like Rangers FC. I know Giovanni van Bronckhorst (trainer Rangers FC, ed.) very well myself and with Dave Vos (assistant trainer Rangers FC and former Ajax youth trainer, ed.) I have a personal bond."
Anfield
For Timber, it would be his first time on the Liverpool pitch. For the previous match in the UEFA Champions League he was on the bench. "The stories and images from Anfield are always great. Now we can experience it ourselves, with fans."
Although Schreuder maintains that Liverpool are the favourites in Group A, he doesn't underestimate Napoli and Rangers FC either. "We have yet to see Napoli, but they had a good season last year. Rangers also did very well in the Europa League last season. They didn't play the final for nothing."
Rangers FC
The Ajax coach has also seen the Scots' matches against PSV. Coach Van Bronckhorst's team eliminated PSV in the final qualifying round of the Champions League on Wednesday.
"They have a really good team. They play with a good approach. Against PSV, they played tactically well and were in control in Eindhoven. That says it all."
