"I look back on a game where the boys gave it their all. The execution was not always good, but that is something we can work on," Van 't Schip started Friday at de Toekomst about the defeat against the English on Thursday night.

Satisfaction
The first weeks at Ajax have been excellent for the coach. "It helps me a lot and when I am here, I am completely focused. It is a nice distraction and besides, I love being involved with this group. I stepped in and all I wanted was to help. You do that on and off the pitch. I want to make something better and achieving that is the fun part of being a coach. We have just started and it is being picked up, which is satisfying."

Gero Rulli is back on the training pitch after an injury. "He is doing well and is training a lot. Hopefully he can join soon." Branco van den Boomen playing on Sunday during the last match before the international period is still in doubt. "It will be difficult, but that is still open. Furthermore, we have to wait and see if anything comes in addition after yesterday."

Kristian Hlynsson was back in the starting line-up on Thursday and was recently transferred to the A-team. "He is a very clever player who manages to hold his own despite not being the biggest and strongest. That's a great quality. He is a true Ajax footballer: clever, good at combinations and he gets in front of goal at the right time. He adds something to the team that we don't have yet."

Almere City away
Ajax will travel to Almere City on Sunday. "They do a good job there. It is an ambitious club, and it is nice for the city that they have a club that plays in the (Dutch) Eredivisie. Besides, they are doing well if you look at the last few weeks. We have to get going on Sunday."
