John van 't Schip looks at his side's current state of play the day after the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa in the UEFA Conference League. He also discusses fitness and, of course, the focus is on Sunday: Fortuna at home. "We will decide on Saturday whether Steven Berghuis will be there."

The coach speaks of a solid game against a good opponent. "What we had discussed beforehand was implemented in a good way. A goal was all that was missing. We all regret that because it was possible to win. We are now halfway through this clash and next week we need to put in a bigger performance to advance a round."

Match
The interaction between the crowd and his players was noticeable, says Van 't Schip "It always remains to be seen how a team functions on such a night. But the energy between the fans and us was fantastic. It was a good match and then you see that we rise to a higher level of performance ourselves. That quality should be our goal and our level."

Ajax, like Sunday against FC Utrecht, kept a clean sheet again. "We gave away very little and were solid on the ball the last two games. In the final phase, Brian Brobbey is now a bit more isolated, but that does not mean we cannot create chances. We saw that.

Berghuis
Fortuna Sittard are the next team to come to the Johan Cruyff ArenA on Sunday. Whether Berghuis will be there, Van 't Schip does not yet know. "He trained this morning and it went well. During Saturday's training session, we will make the decision on whether he gets a role on Sunday. We will take no chances and he will only play if he himself says it feels right and the doctors also say so. Furthermore, Josip Ĺ utalo is fit and Steven Bergwijn is not ready yet."

"I expect a difficult game because it comes after a European game," he continued about Sunday. "We need to take the energy from Thursday to Fortuna and be there from the start," Van 't Schip concluded.
