John van 't Schip was unambiguous after Feyenoord - Ajax. "It was just awful. We were outplayed at every turn, both physically and on the ball. We weren't in the game and that is something we all have to come to terms with."

"Four of the goals were entirely our own fault", continued Van 't Schip. "Although Feyenoord did also keep the pressure up, which led to us making those mistakes. The players weren't doing it deliberately, but it happened anyway. It was just one mistake on top of another."

Ajax went to the dressing room at half-time 3-0 down. Van 't Schip had words with his players. "In the second half you basically have to start over. You just need a reset. And then before you know it, we give away another three goals. It was just men against boys today. It was beyond embarrassing."
