Van ’t Schip was clear about the Englishman's position, who will debut for Ajax in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. A logical next question was of course whether Henderson is fit enough to play the whole match. The midfielder last played a full game in December.
Match rhythm
"That's another question," said Van ’t Schip. "He's an experienced player, who's been used to playing a lot of matches per season as his career has progressed. He's fit, but doesn't have match rhythm. As to whether he'll be able to play the whole match tomorrow, we'll have to wait and see.
Bergwijn returns
Steven Bergwijn returns to duty against PSV. Ajax’s captain missed the away game against Heracles Almelo due to injury. "Steve is in. Fortunately, he was able to take part in the last few training sessions and did well," explains Van ’t Schip.
Josip Šutalo is still doubtful. "He did take part in the training today. That's positive. Josip has been out for two weeks, or even longer, so we have to see how his body responds. Whether he starts or not, we'll decide tomorrow."
