A few minutes into the second half, Sparta doubled their lead. "We got off to a poor start in the second half and were soon 2-0 down. It's difficult to get back into the game from there."

The final score in Rotterdam was still 2-2. "When you look at where we were coming from, it's great we even got one point. I have to give the lads credit for scoring twice."

Mika Godts made his debut appearance for Ajax 1 on Sunday. Van 't Schip was pleased with how the eighteen-year-old Belgian played. "It was his first time in the starting line-up. Mika posed a great threat down the left wing. He did really well and played for fifteen minutes longer than expected. We discussed it at half time. Then we could bring Bergwijn on. It's also great to see him back and scoring again."
