Tsygankov is no stranger to Ajax head coach Míchel Sánchez. The pair worked together at Girona, where the right winger played an important role in helping the Spanish side secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League during the 2023/24 season. The Ukrainian made thirty appearances in La Liga that campaign, starting 26 of those matches. He scored eight goals and provided seven assists as Girona finished third in the league and earned a place in Europe's premier club competition.

The winger had joined Girona from Dynamo Kyiv a season earlier. In his first campaign in Spain, he was involved in nine goals in nineteen league matches. He finished his time at Girona with 31 La Liga starts in his final season, registering six goals and five assists.

Tsygankov is primarily known as a right winger. However, during his time at Girona the left-footed attacker also featured as an attacking midfielder and, on occasion, as a centre-forward. Earlier in his career at Dynamo Kyiv, he was also deployed on the left flank, although the vast majority of his appearances came as a right-sided attacker.

It was in Kyiv that he made his professional debut. His senior career began in August 2016 with a substitute appearance against Stal Kamianske. He went on to make 236 appearances for Dynamo Kyiv, scoring 94 goals and providing 64 assists. Tsygankov is also a full Ukraine international and has currently earned 67 caps for his country.

During the January transfer window of the 2022/23 season, the newly signed Ajax player completed his move to Girona, where he quickly established himself as a key figure on the right wing. The fact that he played most of his football in that position is also reflected in the heat map below.

Last season, Tsygankov played an important role in Sánchez's attacking setup. He created more chances than any other Girona player over the course of the campaign, producing a total of 55. In addition, no Girona player completed more passes in the final third, while he also recorded the highest number of touches inside the opposition penalty area.

His tally of 55 chances created also placed him among the top three right wingers in La Liga in that category. Only Lamine Yamal (72) and former Ajax player Antony (56) created more opportunities for their team-mates.
