Ajax and Tristan Gooijer have reached an agreement on a new contract. The new deal with the 20-year-old defender runs until June 30, 2029. His previous contract with Ajax was set to expire in mid-2026.

Gooijer (Blaricum, September 2, 2004) has been playing for Ajax since 2016. The defender made his debut in the first team on December 14, 2023, during the UEFA Europa League match at home against AEK Athens (3-1). Last summer, Gooijer left on loan to PEC Zwolle, where he suffered a serious knee injury during the first Eredivisie match of the season. That injury is still keeping him sidelined.

Technical director Alex Kroes: "We're pleased that Tristan has committed his future to Ajax for a longer period. He is a versatile defender who already has some experience in the first team. We wanted to offer him a new contract so that he can fully focus on recovering from his injury, after which he can compete for a spot in Ajax 1."
