The eleventh matchday of the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie got underway at 16:30 in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Ajax made a slow start, struggling to create clear chances in the opening stages. John Heitinga’s side appeared to have a golden opportunity from the spot, but the referee overturned the penalty decision moments later.
Around the half-hour mark, play was temporarily suspended when the F-side set off fireworks in memory of a supporter who had passed away the previous week. Not long after the restart, Mika Godts put Ajax ahead, finding the ball in front of his feet in the box and rifling it into the top corner. The hosts went into the break with a 1–0 lead.
In the second half, Ajax found it difficult to maintain control and eventually conceded the equaliser scored by Vaclav Sejk. Despite both sides pressing for a winner, the score remained level at full-time.
