John Heitinga expects his players to report on Sunday, June 29, at the De Toekomst training complex. There, the Ajax players, without the internationals, who will join later, will undergo various tests before getting started on the pitch. One day later, on Monday, June 30, the first official training session will take place.
Friendly matches
On Saturday, July 5, Ajax will play its first friendly match. At De Toekomst, Scottish side Hibernian FC will be the opponent in a behind-closed-doors match, which will be broadcast live on our channels. Two days later, the squad will depart for a training camp in Zeist. That week will conclude on Saturday, July 12, with a friendly match against Danish club Aarhus GF. The match will be played at the grounds of v.v. Hattem and will also be broadcast live by Ziggo Sport.
On Wednesday, July 16 and Saturday, July 19, Ajax will again be in action. First, a behind-closed-doors match will take place in Amsterdam against PAOK, which will be live-streamed via Ajax's official channels. Three days later, at v.v. OWIOS in Oldebroek, the match against KV Mechelen will be played, and it too will be broadcast live by Ziggo Sport.
From July 22 onwards, Ajax will be in Northern Italy to participate in the Como Cup. On Thursday, July 24, Ajax will face Celtic. If they win, they will face the winner of Como v Al-Ahli in the final on Sunday, July 27. If Ajax lose to the Scots, they will play a day earlier against the loser of the other match. Ajax's matches will be broadcast live via Ziggo Sport.
Before the league season begins, Ajax plans to play one more friendly match on the afternoon of Sunday, August 3 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. More information about this will follow soon.
