Manager Erik ten Hag was disappointed not to have won his last match with Ajax. "We made two crucial errors in the second half. An ultimately they led to our downfall. I was really happy with the first half, but we need to defend consistently. We made unnecessary errors , meaning that we handed two chances to Vitesse."

The Amsterdam team finished the season with 83 points from 34 matches. Number two PSV finished the Eredivisie season with two points fewer. "This season PSV had a really strong squad. Ultimately we performed better and there was a difference", continued the manager. "We didn't get many more points than last year, so PSV just did better this season. We had strong competition this year. That's why it gives me a very proud and satisfied feeling that we are champions."

Ten Hag will now make a start at Manchester United. He will look back on a fantastic period in Amsterdam. "You experience so much and you take it with you in your suitcase. It definitely challenges your management capabilities and I have learned a lot."
