Francesco Farioli's team played against Sparta using a system with five defenders, but the first half proved difficult. "We want to be able to play in multiple systems, and we need to master them better," the midfielder admitted. "The objective today was to go into the winter break as second in the league, and we achieved that."
Responsibility
"After the break, we switched back to the other system," Taylor continued. He scored the opener in the 77th minute from the penalty spot. With Wout Weghorst and Davy Klaassen already substituted, the Player of the Match stepped up to take the penalty. "I wanted to take responsibility. I watched Nick (Olij, Sparta's goalkeeper) and placed the ball in the opposite corner."
Reflecting on the first half of the season, Taylor remains optimistic. "We've had good matches and some less impressive ones. But the key this season is that we’re now winning even when we’re not at our best."
