Bakker (Hensbroek, 1986) has been head coach of the Ajax Women since the summer of 2022. In her first season, she won the league with her team. This season, the Ajax Women are holding a solid campaign in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where the team surprisingly is in first place. In the league, Ajax are in second place behind FC Twente.

Bakker started at Ajax in 2018 as head coach of the then-newly founded Ajax Women Talent Team. Before that, she was an assistant coach at the former Excelsior Barendrecht and head coach at the Wartburgia Women 1, playing in the Topklasse.

'Very grateful'
Daphne Koster: "We are very grateful to Suzanne for her many years of dedication to Ajax. Her transfer from the Talentteam to Ajax Women in 2022 was a reward for her growth as a coach, and also, in the last six months, she has shown her worth to the Ajax Women. I hope her and the team’s hard work will be rewarded by continuing to play in Europe and winning more domestic prizes.”

Bakker: "Honestly, I did not see this coming and would have liked to see it differently. However, I can look back on an amazing period as head coach so far, and I’m very proud of the results we’ve achieved. I will, of course, do everything together with the team in order to end this season successfully.”

The team are currently on a training camp in Portugal. On Saturday, January 20, the season resumption against Excelsior Women will occur before the Ajax Women finish the last two group stage matches against Paris Saint Germain and AS Roma.
