Jan van Halst (April 20, 1969) played for Ajax, FC Twente, Vitesse, and FC Utecht during his professional football career. During his time in Amsterdam, he won the league title and Dutch Cup in the 2001/2002 season. After his football career, Van Halst had management and board positions at FC Twente and was the commercial director for sports marketing agency SportFive. The former midfielder is co-owner of training and coaching company Be Robin and a football analyst at Ziggo Sport.
Van Halst’s nomination will be decided during the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM), which will be held at 14.30 on Friday, May 26th, 2023 in the Johan Cruyff ArenA. During this EGM, commissioner Peter Mensing will step down. Mensing joined Ajax’s SB in April 2016. He was reappointed for a new term in November 2019. Mensing announced he would step down the moment the so-called “football commissioner” would be appointed.
