The manager saw how Ajax fell short against Ludogorets this evening. "The difference between today and last week is gigantic. In every way. The first ten minutes were decent. After that, we regressed very far in every aspect. The fact we didn't get a shot on goal is typical of that."

It seemed as if the home team had difficulty putting the Bulgarian Ludogorets under pressure. "We've made clear agreements about this. It seems as if anxiety creeps in when something doesn't work out. It was generally very mediocre."

The coach does hope to welcome some new names to the line-up against Fortuna Sittard on Sunday. "We'll have three or four new players then. I'm happy that they'll be game-ready. We badly need the new players. That much is clear. I'm confident that they'll be able to add something to this team."

Loss against Ludogorets for Ajax

Ajax lost 0-1 to Ludogorets in the UEFA Europa League play-offs. Because the Amsterdammers won by 1-4 in Bulgaria last week, the defeat at home was without consequences for Ajax. Over two matches, Maurice Steijn's team still earned a place in the group stage of the European tournament.
