Lucas Rosa was pleased when he heard that Raúl Moro would be taking the same path as he had: from Real Valladolid to Ajax. The two played together in Spain, and Rosa is looking forward to their reunion. "He’s the kind of player opponents always have to watch out for."

"Yes, ‘Morito’, little one," Rosa begins as he sits down. "I’m really pleased he’s with us. Raúl is a very good player and, above all, a very nice person. I enjoy being around him off the pitch as well. He’s always smiling, gives his all in everything, and gets along with everyone."

The two had already spoken before it became official. "Yes, we’d been in touch, definitely," he says with another smile. "He wanted to know everything about the club, the city, the players. I spoke positively about Amsterdam, although I still need to experience the winter here," he adds with a grin. "I’m really enjoying myself and I’m thrilled he’s here."

"Although he does still need to learn English," Rosa chips in. The Amsterdam defender played for Real Valladolid’s first team from 2022 until early 2025. Moro joined the club in the summer of 2023. "I played left-back and he was on the left wing. We understood each other, both on and off the ball. I always tried to help him because I could see how he wanted to play or where he wanted the ball. We had a good connection at Real Valladolid, so it’s great that he’s here now."

Their connection wasn’t limited to the pitch; they got along off it too. Rosa expects that to be the case in Amsterdam as well. "We’ve both played in Italy, and we love Italian food. When he’s here, we'll definitely visit a few Italian restaurants, as there are some good ones in Amsterdam. But we can also enjoy the Vondelpark or other nice spots around here. Plus, he has a girlfriend, and she can do something with my wife, which is lovely. I’m really looking forward to it."

Finally, what can Ajax fans expect from their new number seven? "He’s fast and very good one-on-one. 'Morito' can play in both attacking positions, and he’s an excellent dribbler. He’s an explosive and quick player who always causes problems for the opposition and whom they always have to keep an eye on. Back at Valladolid, it always took two players to mark him. He always wants to ‘kill’ his opponent with his move."

'That suits him'
"At Ajax, we have a lot of possession, and that suits him. It gives him plenty of chances to take players on and improve his game. It’s great that he’s here, we already have a lot of quality out wide, and he brings something extra. A type of player we didn’t really have yet, which makes him more than welcome. Hopefully, he’ll bring the fans lots of joy and happiness with goals and assists. And he’s absolutely determined to do just that," Rosa concludes.
