Amsterdam
The defender arrives in Amsterdam to continue his way to sports complex de Toekomst. A taxi driver drops Šutalo at his new training complex. Meeting the new captain is the first thing he does: at the parking, Steven Bergwijn welcomes Šutalo with a big smile.
After that, it’s time to take a look inside. He meets goalkeeper and fellow new player Diant Ramaj in the gym and prepares for some exercises himself. Together with the doctor, Šutalo undergoes all the medical checks.
The tour of de Toekomst continues after the Croatian refreshes himself quickly. Guided by some kind people in the club, Šutalo takes a look at the training pitch where some of his new teammates are training. After Bergwijn, fellow defenders Jorrel Hato and Devyne Rensch drop by to introduce themselves. Technical Manager Klaas Jan Huntelaar wishes Šutalo good luck while leaving De Toekomst.
After the first impressions, the driver is swapped for his own car. Šutalo gets to choose his car at partner BMW and Van Poelgeest. The Croat swiftly moves to the Johan Cruijff ArenA with his new car.
After arriving at ‘his’ new home, the Croat can’t avoid his popularity and hands out his first signatures on Dutch ground to young Ajax fans. The press department welcomes Šutalo, and he gets an extensive tour of the stadium. The Croat learns about a few Ajax icons that played there before him and who became a hit in the red-white-red.
Then it’s time to take a look in the dressing rooms and at the most important thing: his new shirt. Šutalo will now wear the holy Ajax shirt with the number 37. The shirt is neatly put back, and the defender is shown the big stage: the pitch of the Johan Cruijff ArenA. He looks around and takes in everything before briefly touching the freshly mowed grass. The grass where he will show his skills in the coming years.
The signing takes place with Director of Football Sven Mislintat, who welcomes him to the club. The German welcomes the new player, gives Šutalo a firm handshake after signing, and proudly poses in front of the photographer.
Then it’s time for the rest of the media crew. Šutalo has his picture taken and moves to the camera for his first interview as an Ajax player. One of the most prominent Ajax players ever, Sjaak Swart, congratulated him on his transfer, leaving a clear message: Josip Šutalo, welcome to Ajax.
