Oscar García Junyent (April 26, 1973, Barcelona, Spain) began his coaching career at La Masia, the youth academy of FC Barcelona. After coaching FC Barcelona U19, he went on to manage, among others, Brighton & Hove Albion, Watford, RB Salzburg, Celta de Vigo and Stade Reims. His most recent role was with Mexican club Chivas, where he was under contract until March 2025. Before becoming a coach, Oscar García was a professional footballer for, among others, FC Barcelona and Valencia CF.
Technical director Jordi Cruijff: "Oscar and I know each other well. More importantly, I know his football vision and understand his mentality. Ajax U23 will benefit greatly from that. Oscar is an experienced coach who has worked in many countries and competitions, is familiar with different football cultures and has won multiple trophies. It is also important for his role at Ajax U23 that he played in Barcelona’s youth academy and later coached their highest youth team. With the appointment of Oscar and his assistants, we are setting the bar high for the further development of talent, and in doing so we are showing that Ajax U23 is an important team for the club."
