For a while, the decision about which country she would represent remained open, partly because she was in the process of obtaining a Dutch passport. Ultimately, she chose her country of birth, the United States.
Dream debut
The midfielder previously played in several youth teams for the U.S. On 4 June of this year, she made her official debut in a friendly match against South Korea in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she crowned her debut with a goal.
For The Future
In the summer of 2023, Yohannes moved from the Ajax Women U19 to the first team. Before that, the midfielder played for several years in the Ajax Academy, while also playing in a boys’ team at WV-HEDW in Amsterdam.
So far, the young talent has played forty matches for the first team, scoring seven goals. This year, Yohannes won the prestigious Johan Cruyff Talent Award.
