The right back was injured during training in Austria last season. In recent months, Klaiber has indeed been back out on the training field in De Lutte, getting ready to make his comeback. "There was definitely some tension around. A fixture has a completely different feeling of tension about it compared to a training session. But once the first clashes are out of the way, the tension eases off a bit."
His knee responded just fine. "When it comes to motor skills, I notice it's still a little uncomfortable every now and then. But otherwise everything's fine. I hope to continue on like this and that my knee can hold up."
Ajax eventually lost 5-2 to SC Paderborn. When Klaiber was taken off, the Ajax team were still 2-1 ahead. "We put huge effort into playing in the first half. Anyway, it's just a friendly, and we shouldn't read too much into this result. Everyone came out of this week unscathed, that's what matters most."
