Captain Davy Klaassen felt Ajax started strongly against PEC Zwolle, but after the visitors made a tactical change, the Amsterdam side’s performance dropped. "I think we played well in the first half. Really, the first hour was good, then it became sloppy," he admitted to ESPN. "That had to do with the fact that they pressed differently, which made things more difficult for us. We need to look at that so we can do better next time."

The Ajax midfielder scored the opening goal himself against the Eredivisie’s number eight. "The ball came close to the keeper and I shot on instinct. This time it was a 'chippy'. I think we had good structure at that moment. When we lost the ball, we were well positioned to win it back immediately. That way you create attack after attack – and that’s what you want."

To mark his 75th anniversary as an Ajacied, none other than Youp van ’t Hek treated the lifelong Ajax man to a unique performance: an intimate one-man show, written especially for Swart (87), who has been a member of Ajax since September 11, 1950.
