Jakov Medić joins VfL Bochum on loan

Ajax, Jakov Medić, and VfL Bochum have reached an agreement regarding the player's loan to the German club. The loan is effective immediately and will last one season, until June 30, 2025. The agreement includes an option for the Germans to purchase the player. The 25-year-old central defender’s contract with Ajax runs until June 30, 2028.

Medić (September 7, 1998, Zagreb, Croatia) joined Ajax at the beginning of last season from Sankt Pauli. In Germany, the former Croatian youth international previously played for 1. FC Nürnberg and Wehen Wiesbaden. He debuted for Ajax on August 12, 2023, during the league match at home against Heracles: 4-1. So far, Medić has played nine official matches for Ajax’s first team and scored once.

Alex Kroes: "We have given Jakov the opportunity to look at other clubs because he cannot play enough at Ajax. It is good for both him and the club that he can continue his career in the Bundesliga, at least for this season. We have wished him much success."

Ajax is het seizoen goed begonnen. In de Johan Cruijff ArenA was de ploeg van debuterende trainer Maurice Steijn zaterdagavond met 4-1 te sterk voor Heracles Almelo. Voor de recordkampioen scoorden Jakov Medić, Mohammed Kudus en Steven Bergwijn (2). Vooral de gelijkmaker van debutant Medić was wonderschoon.

Borna Sosa op huurbasis naar Torino FC

Ajax, Borna Sosa en Torino FC hebben overeenstemming bereikt over de verhuur van de speler aan de Italiaanse club. De verhuur is per direct en heeft een looptijd van een seizoen, tot en met 30 juni 2025. In de overeenkomst is voor de Italianen een optie tot koop opgenomen. Het contract van de 26-jarige speler loopt bij Ajax nog tot en met 30 juni 2028.
