Sunday 8 March marks International Women’s Day. Every year, this day highlights the fighting spirit and sense of solidarity among women. At Ajax, we are also proud of all the women within the club. From young to old.

The women’s branch of the Amsterdam club has existed since 2012 and thanks to the hard work of recent years, there is now a wonderful academy and many successes have been celebrated in the past.

With two Talent Teams (U19 and U16) and three academy teams (U12, U13 and U14), there is room for young talent. Young talented girls who dream of playing for the Ajax Women and want to follow in the footsteps of top players such as Kelly Zeeman and Lois Schenkel. Talent development is central at all ages within the club.

New phase begins for former players at Ajax

Two and a half years ago, Kelly Zeeman, Siem de Jong, Daniel de Ridder, and Ricardo van Rhijn started their traineeships at Ajax. During that time, they worked across various departments, got to know the organisation better, and already made tangible contributions to the club. Dušan Tadić was the equally passionate and successful driving force behind Ajax between 2018 and 2023. In 241 matches, the Serbian Ajacied made the fans cheer 105 times. In addition to three league titles and two KNVB Cups, many memories colour Tadić’s era at Ajax. With the gala match at Real Madrid on 5 March 2019 as the sweetest memory. Seven years after that memorable evening in Madrid, those involved highlight the roots of the Serbian in this special. It covers his influence on his fellow Ajacieden and the leading role he played at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The Ajacied played the perfect match and earned the mark of perfection: a ten. The Tadić Ten.

Ajax X Heineken | Mini-reunion of football friends in an Amsterdam café

Siem de Jong, Demy de Zeeuw, Jan Vertonghen and Maarten Stekelenburg met each other recently in such a typical - and above all cosy - Amsterdam café. A real Ajax café too, a place where the regulars never miss a match played by their club. Watching everything, following everything and discussing everything. The four (former) Ajax players themselves also discussed almost everything: life, their Ajax careers and the iconic matches (‘the third star!’) to which they contributed. The mini-reunion of the football friends and former team-mates therefore produced countless wonderful anecdotes.
