Steven Berghuis only had one focus on Thursday evening in Greece: the 0-1 victory against Panathinaikos. Ajax played a good first half in Athens but struggled to find Panathinaikos’ goal in the second half. “You could feel the team was keen on taking the 0-1 back to Amsterdam.”
Ajax won the first of the two-legged tie against Panathinaikos. The final score in Greece was 0-1. Steven Berghuis scored the goal for the Amsterdam-based team.
Francesco Farioli reckons Ajax will have to get going against Panathinaikos. "They have experience on the pitch, a coach with a clear vision and players with qualities," the Italian said about the opponent at the press conference in Athens on Wednesday on the eve of the away game.
