The Englishman arrived in Zeist and had a brief conversation with Marijn Beuker and Alex Kroes. After a warm embrace with head coach John Heitinga, Henderson made his way to the players. From the youngest talents to the seasoned pros, they all came by for a final word.

Henderson wore the Ajax shirt in 57 official matches. The Englishman made his debut on 3 February 2024 in the home clash against PSV, which ended 1–1. The experienced central midfielder, who also wore the captain's armband, played the full match.

The 35-year-old spent one and a half seasons in Amsterdam, representing the club in the Eredivisie (37 matches), the KNVB Cup (2), the UEFA Europa League (9), and the UEFA Conference League (3). He also featured in six Europa League qualifiers.

Henderson scored his only goal for Ajax in what turned out to be his final official appearance – a fitting end to his time at the club. Known more as a provider, the Brit registered nine assists during his spell in Amsterdam.
