Joeri Heerkens sustained an ankle injury on Monday evening during Ajax U23's away match against Vitesse. The nineteen year old goalkeeper is set to undergo surgery and will not feature again this season.

The keeper was forced to leave the pitch early in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie match in Arnhem. After just twenty minutes, Heerkens sustained the injury while taking a goal kick. Further examination of his ankle on Tuesday clarified the extent of the injury.
