Lucas Ocampos, Florian Grillitsch and Ahmetcan Kaplan were in the match-day squad for the first time. In addition, captain Dusan Tadic played his 200th match in the service of Amsterdam on Saturday, a wonderful milestone. Since his arrival in Amsterdam in 2018, Tadic has not missed a single league game. The special match for the Ajax captain did get off to a somewhat slow start. Both teams struggled to create good opportunities.

In the 35th minute, Ajax opened the scoring with Bergwijn, who was able to shoot the ball in from close range after a good attacking run. Five minutes later, the Ajax player scored again. He outsmarted Cambuur keeper Virgilia with a wonderful long-distance shot: 2-0. This was already Bergwijn's sixth goal in his first five Eredivisie matches for Ajax.

After half time, the Ajax players continued where they left off before the break: creating opportunities. In the 54th minute, this resulted in Amsterdam's third goal of the match. Substitute Kenneth Taylor fired towards the goal from around twenty metres out With a bit of luck, the ball eventually ploughed past the SC Cambuur goalkeeper via Rensch's heel. Kudus managed to extend the lead ten minutes later. The Ghanaian shot the ball into the net after a tight cross from Calvin Bassey: 4-0.

Francisco Conceição and Lucas Ocampos made their Eredivisie debut for Ajax later in the match. The newcomers made a good impression, but failed to score another goal. As a result, the final score after 90 minutes was 4-0.
