"It happened fairly quickly. But I think it can always go faster," began Godts, who sees the long-term contract extension as a great reward. "It's great that they all have confidence in me. I knew right away that I wanted to extend my stay, so it was an easy decision for me."
Strong Start
The talented forward believes he has developed well both on and off the pitch. "Things have been going as I planned," said Godts. "This season has been a good start. I'm currently sidelined, but I hope to return soon. Off the pitch, I've grown as a person, and on the pitch, I've improved everything I aimed to work on. Now it's coming to fruition on the beautiful turf of the ArenA."
This season, Godts has been an important contributor to Ajax's performance with his output. "Goals and assists are always great. It's happening now, and I'm pleased with that. It might keep people quieter when I have a less impressive game. It's just important, and everyone notices, so I'm glad I've added that to my game."
Injury
The Belgian winger sustained an injury during the away match against FC Twente. "I knew it was my hamstring," Godts said about the moment. "It's not as serious as last season. I don’t know the exact date, but I do know that I won't be out for very long. I'll do everything I can to be back as soon as possible."
