In the Adelaarshorst, there was little threat on goal at either end before the break. Ajax managed two long-range shots, of which Jorrel Hato's posed the greatest danger. The effort of the left-back skimmed across the top corner.
In the second half, Go Ahead gained the upper hand and quickly had a major chance at the opening goal. A curling cross found a free Victor Edvardsen at the far post, who then fired over the crossbar.
Go Ahead Eagles did find the mark in the 64th minute. Former Ajax player Enric Llansana shot the ball past keeper Remko Pasveer after poor defensive play by the Amsterdammers: 1-0.
Fortunately, Amsterdam responded quickly. Davy Klaassen neatly headed in the equaliser after an assist from Jordan Henderson. Ajax wanted more, but were unable to create a real threat of a winning goal.
