First points dropped as Ajax draw with sc Heerenveen

Ajax have dropped points for the first time in this Eredivisie season. The Amsterdam side let a 2-0 lead slip at home against sc Heerenveen, with the match ending 2-2.

Ajax made a strong start and took the lead with a slice of fortune. Following a corner, Aaron Bouwman's effort deflected off goalkeeper Brent Klaverboer and into the net to make it 1-0. Just after the half-hour mark, Abdellah Ouazane doubled the advantage with a superb strike into the top corner.

Ajax appeared set to reach the break unscathed, but in the dying seconds of the first half sc Heerenveen pulled one back through Jacob Trenskow. Goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen had no chance as the forward fired a diagonal effort into the top-left corner.

The hosts also started the second half brightly and created opportunities through Oscar Gloukh, Kasper Dolberg and Ouazane. However, the third goal never arrived.

Equaliser
Ajax gradually lost control of the game and were punished shortly before full-time when substitute Maxence Rivera netted the equaliser for sc Heerenveen. A late Ajax push failed to produce a winner.
