Cruijff: 'I want to make my father proud'

Jordi Cruijff is hugely looking forward to getting started at Ajax in a few weeks’ time. The new Technical Director signed a contract running until the summer of 2028 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, meaning all signals are now green for him to take up his position from 1 February. "I think this is the right moment."

Ajax appoints Jordi Cruijff

Ajax have appointed Jordi Cruijff as technical director. Following the verbal agreement reached on December 28, the contract has now also been signed. Cruijff will start in his new role on February 1, 2026. At the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM), which still has to be convened, Ajax shareholders will be formally informed of the intention of the Supervisory Board (RvC) to also appoint Cruijff as a statutory director. The appointment runs until June 30, 2028.

Ajax and Jordi Cruijff reach verbal agreement

Ajax and Jordi Cruijff have reached a verbal agreement regarding the position of Technical Director. The process to arrive at a definitive appointment is in its final phase; a number of steps still need to be taken. Ajax’s aim is for Cruijff to be able to start in early February 2026.
