Ajax and Jorthy Mokio have reached an agreement on a new contract. The Belgian player’s new deal runs for five years, from July 1, 2026 until June 30, 2031. His previous contract was set to expire on June 30, 2027.
Mokio (Ghent, February 29, 2008) joined Ajax from KAA Gent two years ago. The then 16-year-old Belgian youth international made his first-team debut on August 29, 2024 in the away match against Jagiellonia Białystok in the UEFA Europa League play-offs. So far, Mokio has played 48 official matches for Ajax 1, scoring six goals.
Technical director Jordi Cruijff: "Jorthy is only 18 years old and he has already played nearly 50 matches for Ajax’s first team. Across Europe, everyone knows the talent he has. We are very pleased that he came to us to say he wants to stay longer. He can continue to develop here and contribute even more to Ajax. We are confident that he will bring us a lot of joy in the seasons to come."
