After the final four teams secured their place in the Champions League main tournament through the play-offs on Wednesday evening, all 36 teams are now known.
Just like last season, UEFA is working with four pots, each containing nine teams. These teams are seeded based on club coefficients. Ajax are in pot three and will face two opponents from each of the other pots. The Amsterdam-based club will play one team from each pot at home and one team from each pot away.
John Heitinga’s side cannot be drawn against PSV in the League Phase and can face a maximum of two teams from the same country. After eight matchdays, the top eight teams will advance to the Round of 16. Teams finishing ninth to 24th will compete for a place in the last 16.
Pot allocation:
Pot 1: Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Inter, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona.
Pot 2: Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Atlético Madrid, Benfica, Atalanta, Villarreal, Juventus, Eintracht Frankfurt, Club Brugge.
