Brobbey (Amsterdam, February 1, 2002) joined Ajax's youth academy in 2010. On October 31, 2020, he made his first-team debut in the Ajax – Fortuna Sittard match. In the summer of 2021, the forward signed a contract with RB Leipzig. After half a season in the German Bundesliga, Brobbey returned to Amsterdam on loan for six months. Immediately afterwards, in mid-2022, he made the permanent move from RB Leipzig to Ajax.
In total, Brobbey made 163 appearances for Ajax’s first team, scoring 56 goals. With the club, he became league champion twice and also won the Dutch Cup in 2021. After the 2023–2024 season, the Amsterdam-born striker was named Ajax Player of the Year by the fans. He was also the first player ever to be voted 'Eredivisie Player of the Month' three times.
Alex Kroes: "Brian joined our academy at the age of eight and ultimately played more than 150 matches for the first team. He was often important for us, and we are therefore grateful for his commitment and achievements. With his departure, we bid farewell to a confident and energetic player. At the same time, this transfer is now a sensible choice for both parties, on both a sporting and financial level. We have thanked Brian and wished him every success in his next step with Sunderland."
