Branco van den Boomen undergoes surgery

Branco van den Boomen underwent successful back surgery on Tuesday. The 29-year-old midfielder had been struggling with persistent complaints since the end of January, which had frequently kept him sidelined.

Initially, his recovery appeared to be progressing well, allowing Van den Boomen to make his comeback in the away match against Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of March. Unfortunately, the symptoms returned shortly afterwards, and it became clear that surgery was necessary.

Recovery
It is expected that Branco will need around four months to fully rehabilitate. In the coming period, he will work on his recovery under the medical team's guidance.

Van den Boomen: "Unfortunately, over the past period, I couldn't get rid of the complaints through other means, so this procedure was ultimately the most logical choice. The consequence is that the coming months will be entirely focused on recovery. That actually starts immediately, so hopefully I can return to the team environment as soon as possible."
