The European match was slow to get going on Saturday in Moldova. In spite of that, the Ajax Women had the better of the play in the first half. Tiny Hoekstra had a good opportunity with a header off a corner in the first fifteen minutes, but saw her effort go just over the enemy goal.
Leuchter and Spitse find the mark
Suzanne Bakker's team did find the net after half an hour's play through Leuchter. The Ajax striker headed a cross from Hoekstra into the mesh. Just before the half, the Ajax Women were also awarded a penalty after a handball by an FC Dinamo BSUPC player. This golden opportunity was converted by the captain Spitse: 2-0
The Ajax Women had no further problems against FC Dinamo BSUPC in the second half. They successfully defended their lead. In the closing minutes, Leuchter scored her second goal of the match for a final result in Moldova of a 3-0 victory for the Ajax Women.
The draw for round 2 will take place on September 15, in Nyon. Ajax Women will play the first leg on October 10 or 11, and the second leg on October 18 or 19. The next Eredivisie match for the Women’s team will take place on September 15, when the team faces Excelsior away.
