The 0-2 lead the Ajax Women had already brought with them from last week’s home leg was never under threat in Austria. Within the opening quarter of the first half, Ajax could have extended their advantage further had Mirte van Koppen, Danique Tolhoek and Jonna van de Velde been more precise in front of goal.

In the warm Austrian conditions, the first half offered little more. Ajax looked dominant in possession, but clear-cut chances remained scarce. The breakthrough came fairly quickly after the restart, however. Tolhoek tapped in from close range after a cross from Van de Velde. Ten minutes later, Bo van Egmond sealed the final score: 0-2.

The draw for the second qualifying round of the Women’s Europa Cup will take place on Friday at 15:00. The matches are scheduled for 7/8 and 15/16 October.
