Ajax with internationals ahead of Excelsior

The Ajax players trained on Thursday afternoon at the de Toekomst sports complex. The international break has come to an end, and the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie is already coming back into view. On Saturday, the league match against Excelsior awaits. In the build-up to the encounter in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, we put together a compilation of the training session.

The Amsterdam side will host the Rotterdam team on Saturday from 18:45. Excelsior are sixteenth in the league and sit one point above the bottom-placed sides Telstar and Heracles. The match against Excelsior is dedicated to the Nouri Foundation.

Josip Šutalo and Ko Itakura probably returned to their club with the best feeling. Itakura’s Japan had already secured World Cup participation earlier, and Šutalo’s Croatia succeeded in doing so this past week. Wout Weghorst also watched his fellow Oranje internationals earn a World Cup ticket. Unfortunately, the Ajax striker was not involved due to an injury. But of course, Weghorst is still a contender for a place in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.
