Ajax had a fairly straightforward win in Volendam. After a 0-1 lead at the half, the Amsterdammers really pulled away from the number seventeen team in the Eredivisie. After ninety minutes, the score was 1-4. Kenneth Taylor (2), Chuba Akpom and Brian Brobbey scored the goals.

Ajax did have a rough start in Volendam, and it looked like they would get a penalty against them after ten minutes. Gero Rulli committed a foul on Damon Mirani, but the VAR intervened. It emerged that the defender was offside when he received the ball.

After that, Ajax took control. The 0-1 marker from Kenneth Taylor after 25 minutes of football was deserved at that moment.

FC Volendam came out in better form after half-time. Darius Johnson found his way behind the Ajax defence and outmanoeuvred keeper Gero Rulli with a beautiful lob. But ball struck the inside of the post and scooted away from the goal.

Ajax seemed to wake up after that opportunity, and quite quickly locked down the match. In eighteen minutes' time, the Ajax squad scored three goals. Akpom put up the 0-2 marker, Brobbey scored for 0-3, and Taylor completed the quartet of goals for Ajax. In the closing stages, Benaissa Benamar put away the consolation goal for Volendam: 1-4.
