The Ajax team were outsmarted a week ago in the Klassieker against Feyenoord, and so were eager to make good their reputation. At first, it did not seem like that would happen, as they were 0-1 down at half time. Bergwijn missed the first good shot at goal in the match, after which FC Twente struck at their first opportunity. Ricky van Wolfswinkel played through a cross from Daan Rots brilliantly.
In the second half, Ajax switched to 4-3-3 and that turned out to be a successful move. There was much more energy and menace in the Amsterdam team's play, who brought the scores level after 59 minutes. Brobbey artfully headed Kenneth Taylor's free kick into the net.
Ajax eventually took full advantage. Nine minutes before the final whistle, the ball went to the penalty spot after checking the VAR. Devyne Rensch was tackled by former Ajax player Anass Salah-Eddine. Bergwijn went up to the ball and scored with mastery: 2-1.
With the victory against the Twente team, Ajax took revenge for the 6-0 loss against Feyenoord. The Amsterdam-based team have four Eredivisie matches left to play this season: Excelsior (home), FC Volendam (away), Almere City (home) and Vitesse (away).
