The match at Het Kasteel marked a special milestone for Remko Pasveer, who made his 100th appearance for Ajax and was welcomed into the Club of 100. Ajax took control early on, with Owen Wijndal opening the scoring. Anton Gaaei and Don-Angelo Konadu soon added further goals, sending Ajax into the break with a 0–3 lead. It was the first Ajax goal for Konadu.
After half-time, Ajax conceded twice, meaning Pasveer was unable to celebrate his jubilee match with a clean sheet. At the other end, Ajax youngsters Jorthy Mokio and Rayane Bounida also got on the scoresheet. Raúl Moro completed the scoring to make it 2–7. It was a special night for both Branco van den Boomen and Abdellah Ouazane. Van den Boomen made his return to the pitch after recovering from a serious injury, and Ouazane made his debut for Ajax 1.
