Ajax will play the round of 16 in the UEFA Youth League away against Sporting CP. That was the result of the draw in Nyon on Monday afternoon. The Ajax talents play on February 28 or March 1 against the Portuguese.

Ajax U18 managed to qualify for the knockout phase of the highest European tournament for youth teams. Frank Peerebooms's team gained a narrow victory on MTK Budapest thanks to a goal from Gabriel Misehouy: 0-1.

The eight group winners of the UEFA Youth League group stage were drawn against the eight winners of the play offs of the youth tournament on Monday. Ajax will take on the winner of group D.

The matches in the round of 16 will be decided by one game between two teams. The quarter finals will be played on March 14 and 15. The winners of that round qualify for the semi-finals in Nyon on April 21. The final will follow three days later in the Swiss city.
