Labyad scores match winner in Alkmaar

Wednesday night saw Ajax reach the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup. Erik ten Hag's team saw off AZ with an impressive performance, winning 1-0 away in Alkmaar. The winning goal was scored by Zakaria Labyad during the first half. This means Ajax will reach the final eight of the Dutch Cup and will find out who they are facing during Saturday evening's draw.

Ten Hag was very pleased, not only with the final score but also Ajax's performance. "Especially in these conditions", said the coach, referring to the strong winds.

"We hit the post three times, we had plenty of one-on-one chances and we didn't give away many opportunities to our opponents, so I'm pretty pleased."
