Ajax travel to England with these players

Ajax has unveiled the list of players for the clash against Brighton & Hove Albion. Twenty-two players are off to England.

The Ajax players leave for England this Wednesday, where a press conference has been scheduled. Following the press conference, the squad will move on to a training session. Ajax will play the third match in the UEFA Europa League group stage this Thursday at 9:00 pm Dutch time.

Ajax started the group stage with a 3-3 draw against Olympique Marseille. In the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Carlos Forbs, Steven Berghuis and Kenneth Taylor scored. The second group stage match also ended level. On October 5, AEK Athens – Ajax ended in a 1-1 draw. Steven Bergwijn was the only one to score from a penalty in the Greek capital.

Georges Mikautadze is ill and has not travelled along with the squad. Jay Gorter and Devyne Rensch are injured and unable to play. Silvano Vos was suspended during the last European match but is part of the team for the away match against Brighton.

Ajax and Maurice Steijn part ways

Ajax and Maurice Steijn will part ways with immediate effect. The club management and Steijn have agreed that the coach will step down from his position. Steijn (Den Haag, November 20, 1973) transferred from Sparta Rotterdam to Ajax this summer and signed a contract until June 30, 2026.

Highlights FC Utrecht – Ajax

Ajax lost for the fourth time this Eredivisie season. The Amsterdam team lost 4-3 to FC Utrecht at the Galgenwaard Stadium. From 2-0 down, Ajax took managed to get a 3-2 lead. It all just went wrong for Maurice Steijn's team in the closing twenty minutes of the match.





One point for Ajax after match in Athens

Ajax did not get past a draw against AEK Athens. The match in Greece ended 1-1. On behalf of Ajax, Steven Bergwijn scored from the penalty spot. Fifteen minutes before full-time, Domogaj Vida scored the equaliser for the home team. After the 3-3 draw against Olympique Marseille two weeks ago, Ajax is in third place of poule B in the Europa League with two points after two matches.
