Earlier this week it was announced that the home fixture against FC Utrecht on Sunday will not go ahead due to police strikes being announced. As a result, Ajax will return to the league cup on Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm, with a home match against Fortuna Sittard.

Francesco Farioli's Ajax players took to the pitch for training on Thursday. Several players who were out of action during the last international break worked up a sweat in the Johan Cruyff ArenA. The squad started their practice session with a warm-up and exercise drills, after which it was time for some positional play. The Ajax players completed the training session with some goal practice and a little game.
