Ajax team ready for first showdown in Johan Cruyff ArenA

The first showdown of the 2024/2025 season is just around the corner. Ajax take on FK Vojvodina in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening, kicking off at 20:30. Francesco Farioli's team spent Wednesday getting ready for the European fixture against the Serbian team in the Johan Cruyff ArenA.

A press conference was held in the brand new press room prior to the final training session in Amsterdam. Journalists were given the opportunity to put a few questions to Farioli and Jordan Henderson on the eve of the official season opener.

After the team meeting on Wednesday, which followed the press event, the Ajax players went out onto the pitch at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The first part of the training session was open to the press who attended. The group split up straight away: the three goalkeepers started by shooting at each other, while the field players warmed up their muscles with various running exercises. One of the training drills was a version where they had to pass each other without being tagged. The squad continued the training session with several rondos, after which Farioli and his staff moved on to tactical matters.

Ajax knows who the possible opponent will be in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League if FK Vojvodina is defeated over two matches. The Amsterdam team will then play against the winner of Panathinaikos - Botev Plovdiv, as the draw on Monday in Nyon revealed.
