Ajax signs Jorthy Mokio

Ajax have reached an agreement with Jorthy Mokio on the transfer of the 16-year-old central defender to Amsterdam. The Belgian signs a contract at Ajax that starts on July 1, 2024, lasting three years, until June 30, 2027. The transfer of Mokio is subject to a few formalities.

Mokio (Ghent, February 29, 2008) played for the highest youth team of KAA Gent last season and debuted in the first team of the Belgian club. The youth international will be added to the Ajax U23 squad.

Technical director Alex Kroes: "We are delighted that Jorthy has signed here. He is a great talent and there was a lot of interest in him. Our scouts in Belgium had been following him for a while, and together, we did everything to bring him to Ajax. We have spoken about the mutual faith in a wonderful future, and once the last formalities are done, he will join Ajax 1 in the preparations for the new season."

Ajax and VodafoneZiggo have extended their long-standing partnership. The telecom company has been Ajax's shirt and main sponsor since 2015 and has signed on for at least two more seasons. The current contract runs until the end of the coming season; the new agreement extends until mid-2027, with an option to extend until mid-2029. The collaboration will place greater emphasis on social initiatives.
