Ajax made four changes to the opening line-up compared with their magnificent 4-0 victory over Beşiktaş, with places for Christian Rasmussen, Jaydon Banel, Davy Klaassen and Branco van den Boomen.
The latter came closest to scoring in the first half, but hit the post from a free kick. Ajax struggled to pose any true threat of attack, explaining why manager Francesco Farioli made five substitutions in the second half in an effort to turn the tide.
That finally came in the 76th minute. First, Davy Klaassen hit the post. They kept up the attack, helping Traoré score in the near corner of the net.
Their fate was sealed in injury time. Godts scored an easy goal from a pass from Traoré after a swift tackle.
